National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP)

For better supervision and monitoring of programme there is Sub District Unit within the District Level. As per norm it is necessary to have one Sub District Unit with 2.5 lakhs population & in case of Inaccessible tribal area with 1.25 lakhs population. One Sub-district unit will have one Medical officer (TB Control), one Senior Treatment Supervisor and one senior Tuberculosis Lab. Supervisor.


Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) is the central nodal agency for the prevention and control of vector borne diseases i.e. Malaria, Dengue, Lymphatic Filariasis, Kala-azar, Japanese Encephalitis and Chikungunya in India. It is one of the technical department of Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India.


The Government of India has initiated a decentralized, state based Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) in the country in response to a long felt need expressed by various expert committees. The project is to detect early warning signals of impending outbreaks and help initiate an effective response in a timely manner. It also provides essential data to monitor progress of on going disease control programs and help allocate health resources more optimally.


Cancer, Diabetes, Cardio Vascular diseases & Stroke comprises major share of morbidity and mortality among non-communicable diseases in India. Early intervention can prevent, defer or reduce the extent of severity of complications of NCDS. Early detection of these diseases and the complications during the course of the diseases are of prime importance. Early detection can be done at all health facilities using various methods and curative services will depend on the severity of the diseases. The health facilities need to be equipped accordingly.

National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP)

Leprosy is a bactarial disease caused by a germ named as “Mycobacterium Leprae”. It affects mainly the skin & peripheral nerves of the human body. Man is the definite host of the germ “Mycobacterium Leprae”. 80% (eighty) of the disease is non-infections and 20% (twenty) is infactious in Nature.

National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP)

Since when the Scheme is in operation Established in 1987.The objectives of the Scheme, The important objectives and components of National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP) are as follows :Surveys to assess the magnitude of the Iodine Deficiency Disorders. Supply of Iodated salt in place of common salt.

National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP)

The National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC) at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is responsible for overall policy formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the different activities envisaged under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP).

National Programme For Control Of Blindness (NPCB)

Reducing prevalence and burden of avoidable blindness by 2020 by adopting strategies advocated for Vision 2020.The goals and objectives of the programme and so the society is aimed towards: Providing high quality of eye care services to the affected population.Expanding coverage of eye care services to the underserved areas.
